For the graduate showcase show we had to cooperate all together and figure out what screens we will need etc. and Jaime Martinez Lopez and I took the responsibility to organise and curate it. Part of this was going into the designated space, measuring the dimensions of the room, constructing a floor plan which involved communicating with all the students who were going to show films in that space and talking with the course leaders to work out last minute changes. Neither me or Jaime had any previous experience on the matter so every day we were met with different tasks and problems. For instance, one week before the installation process we found out that me and Sunny had to change the position of the screen and the projectors because we needed at least 8 meters distance to fit the screen size. The process of figuring that out involved me renting a different projector outside of the university and talking to different technicians to see what our options were.
Earlier this year, an old flatmate that I met in the university halls in London contacted me to ask me if I would like to be part of her degree project for her BA at LCF. She explained that she had to choose an artist and showcase a project of theirs in a virtual exhibition and if possible, in person too. I gladly accepted and we did an interview that she will later use in the project and we decided to show "I am you, you are me", the AI generated photo morph. This is all very new to me but I am really excited to see how it come together.
The collection photos of friends and family might be shown in the exhibition as well so I sent out consent forms to make sure that they wish to be seen in the project.
Below is the curator's letter.

Maria Theocharopoulou is a friend and artist with who I decided to start a project that would benefit both of us. She wanted to make a couple of Instagram filters of theatre masks because she had been researching how they differentiate from culture to culture and their use. To make the filters we would have to model them on a 3D program so that was were I came in. We decided on a few reference pictures and I showed her how to use the basic modelling tools of Blender.
Then we watched different tutorials on how to import them into Spark AR which was made for uploading the filters on the platform. We had to postpone the project because I had to come back to London but this summer we aim to finish them.

As part of Unit 9 we did a cross course online exhibition on FrameVr. During the first meeting with my group I tried to find a common theme that all of us are interested in and what came out was that we all had made previous works around different aspects of identity.
For the layout of the scene I suggested that since we sticked with identity as the main theme, we could place different 3D heads in the space and have our works inside and through that idea we came up with the title HEADSPACE. We got really good feedback from tutors and other students which I'm really happy about because it was the first time I curated a show.
This December I got the chance to do a short residency with a fellow student of WCA, Lila Boutari Lalaouni at the Lalaounis Jewellery Museum in Athens. It hosts several jewellery pieces from the antiquity as well as the emblematic collections of Ilias Lalaounis. Part of the residency programme was to produce a mural in the backyard of the museum and a short interview about the project.
It was very exciting because it was the first time working on such big scale for both of us. Because we were already familiar with each other's way of working we decided to go with the flow and not have a draft sketch.
The main idea was to explore the relationship between Aphrodite and her husband Hephaestus. Hephaestus was the god of smithery and the museum is located on the hill of Hephaestus so decided to use colours like dark browns, reds, oranges and gold to represent him. Aphrodite being the goddess of beauty urged us to use more pastel and light colours, with lighter and more translucent shapes. We added her statue torso because we were asked to include at least one figurative element. It was the perfect time for me to brush up my academic painting skills on statues. Even though I hadn't done that in years I had a lot of fun painting it.
It took us 10 days to finish it and I am really happy with the final result. The mini interview was posted on the museum's social media pages and we were informed that when the museum is allowed to open again, there will be an opening event for the mural and another exhibition.

During July I took part in the Cream Athens: Whipped exhibition at the Coningsby Gallery. It was my first official exhibition in London. I was part of the set-up and take-down, organisation and curation team which helped me understand the behind the scenes action that happens before and after the exhibition.
It also gave me the confidence boost to apply to other open calls in the future.

For the PPD project my group and I decided to investigate the Parasol Unit Gallery. We want to work on the diverse and educational side of the gallery since it hosts artists of different backgrounds and it offers artist led family workshops. I took the role of the spokesperson and I try to make sure that we all do our part. We initially wanted to do some of the workshops and interview someone that worked there to understand their curatorial practices.
I tried to contact two people from the gallery, one that was head of Press and the other director of Operations. We didn't get a reply in the time period that my group had decided.

After this attempt we tried to come in touch with five of the artists that exhibited there to see if they were willing to speak with us but we didn't get any reply.
Our final plan was to find as much information as we can about the artists that exhibited as well as about the gallery itself and try to present an objective view of what the gallery wishes to achieve with their actions.
The information we found from the curator's interviews answered most of our questions since as she states she doesn't follow any particular rules when choosing artists and she wants to show mid-career, emerging and well established artists. Me and Jaime were in charge of the basic background information about the gallery as well as the educational programmes that they host.
